Eight civilians including two children were wounded in Saudi Arabia from Yemeni cross-border shelling, the civil defence agency said on Wednesday.

The attack hit two cars and a house on Tuesday evening in the kingdom’s Jazan border district, it said, without giving details on the condition of those wounded.

Intensified shelling from Yemen has killed five members of the security forces and three civilians in the border region since Saturday.

More than 80 people, most of them soldiers and border guards, have been killed in shelling and cross-border skirmishes since March, when a Saudi-led coalition began air strikes against Shiite Houthi rebels and their allies in Yemen.
