Greece on Wednesday accused Turkey of spreading fake news alleging that its armed forces have injured migrants gathered at the land border.
According to Stelios Petsas, the migrants are using Turkish military grade tear gas against Greek troops.
Turkish officials, on the other hand, announced that one migrant was killed by Greek fire on the Turkey-Greece border where thousands of migrants have massed since last week.
“Six men were injured after live bullets were used,” the Edirne governor’s office in north-western Turkey said, adding that one of the men later died of his injuries.
Cyprus, an EU member, says it is on the front-line of the Mediterranean migration route with the highest number of first time asylum seekers per capita.
