The city’s coastline, landmarks and mosques have impressed several Chinese and Indonesian pilgrims.
Lee Shing, a Chinese pilgrim, thanked God and the Saudi government for allowing him to perform Haj successfully by providing quality services. He said that he took many photographs on the Jeddah corniche, where he went swimming.
He also performed Friday prayers at the Al-Rahma Mosque. “I would like to thank the citizens of this generous land,” he said, according to a report published in a local publication recently.
Fellow pilgrim Shao Linsin said he enjoyed performing Haj, but was sad when heard about the loss of life in Mina. “But this is God’s will and I beseech Him to have mercy on their souls.” He said Jeddah was certainly the Bride of the Red Sea.
Indonesian pilgrim Abdulathem said he was able to perform Haj because of the quality services provided by the Saudi government. Only “ungrateful” people would complain about the services, he said.
“After performing Haj we had a few days to visit Jeddah landmarks and do some shopping. Our journey started at the corniche, one of the most beautiful beaches, and ended with a visit to Al-Rahma Mosque on the Red Sea coast. This mosque adds more spirituality and beauty to this area,” he said.
Mousa from Jakarta said: “We traveled to the coast after performing Haj. I was really stunned by the development of the city because it was not like this when I visited 15 years ago when I performed Haj. I was also surprised at the giant projects taking place at the holy sites and in Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah.”
