Saudi Arabia invited to Uzbek investment forum

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Kadirov said Thursday that his country and Saudi Arabia are riding the crest of excellent bilateral ties.
“Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 23 years ago, the two countries have been enjoying excellent bilateral relations,” the Uzbek envoy told Arab News in an interview.
The ambassador noted that 7,000 Uzbek pilgrims visited Saudi Arabia this year to perform Haj.
Kadirov said that bilateral relations have experienced rapid development, deepening political trust and intensified high-level exchanges. He said that Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have become good partners and sincere friends with mutual trust and substantial cooperation in various fields.
“We have been upgrading economic cooperation with positive progress in the areas of culture, education and religion between the two countries,” he said.
He added that Uzbekistan was “ready to further enlarge and deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation in different sectors.”
Kadirov invited the Kingdom to attend the International Investment Forum to be held on Nov. 5 and 6 in Tashkent.
He said that his country wishes to make concerted efforts with Saudi counterparts to consistently push forward the exchanges of visits on various levels.
He said the forum will be attended by government officials, foreign delegations, executives of major companies, investment funds, banks and international financial institutions such as the World Bank, International Finance Corp. and the Asian Development Bank, among others.
“The aim of the forum is to present leading enterprises included in the state privatization program and sell them to strategic foreign investors capable of ensuring modernization,” he said.
He added: “We want to proactively enhance the cooperation in the areas of policy and economy, culture and religion, education and sports and promote bilateral relations to a new phase.”
