Leaders in Saudi and Egypt on Wednesday agreed to further bolster ties at the first Saudi-Egyptian Coordination Council meeting in the capital city on Wednesday.
Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, met with Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail Mohammed at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. The two are co-chairmen of the body.

The meeting stems from a pact agreed upon last month by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which is part of the implementation of the Cairo Declaration, according to a SPA report on Wednesday.

Decisions taken at the meeting included setting up of working groups to review draft initiatives and agreements, memoranda of understanding and executive programs emanating from the Cairo Declaration. The two sides agreed to hold the second meeting of the council in Egypt.
Later in the day, the deputy crown prince met at Al-Yamamah Palace with Egyptian Minister of Defense and Military Production Gen. Sidqi Subhi. The meeting explored military cooperation.
