Putin briefs king on Assad’s Moscow visit

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday following Putin’s Tuesday meeting with Syria’s President Bashar Assad in Moscow, the Kremlin said.
“The discussion on the issue of Syria continued,” the Kremlin said in a statement. “The Russian leader informed the king about the results of Assad’s visit to Russia.”
Meanwhile, Russia announced that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov would meet Friday with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Vienna to discuss the situation in Syria and will be joined by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Kerry and Lavrov had a phone conversation during which they discussed preparations for the meeting.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin also discussed the Syrian crisis with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
