At least two separate gatherings of Filipino workers, mainly from Mindanao, pledged to defend the Kingdom at any cost.
They expressed their willingness at a get-together to mark the Eid Al-Adha festivities.
The groups will sign an official manifesto to be submitted to the concerned Saudi Authority pledging to support the Kingdom’s drive against terrorism.
They also expressed their sympathies to the Saudi leadership over the two incidents that happened in Makkah during Haj.
“Eid Al-Adha marks the Islamic spirit of sacrifice for a noble cause,” observe Prof. Mohammad Hassan Cana, former dean and professor of King Faisal Center for Islamic and Asian Studies at the Mindanao State University, at a large gathering in Riyadh.
Referring to the Saudi-led campaign against terrorists and war against the Houthis militia, Cana urged his fellow Filipinos to support Riyadh’s effort to eliminate all forms of violence and terrorism.
Cana, who is also a consultant at the International Academy of Management and Economics, in Makati, called on fellow Muslims to uphold the spirit of the Islamic solidarity.
The visiting professor made his observation on the occasion of two major events: The National Day of Saudi Arabia and Eid Al-Adha. He was among the special pilgrim guests of the king in 1997.
“I consider the Kingdom to be my second country, where I prefer to live and die as a faithful in defense of the kingdom’s vision for global peace and unity,” he said.
“We extend our heartiest congratulations and prayers for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the great people of Saudi Arabia on their National Day.”
