Egyptian Tourism Minister Hisham Zazou stressed the importance of Arab tourism in general with a focus on Egypt, encouraging Arabs to “return to Egyptian destinations, especially Sharm el-Sheikh”.

There is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Tourism Operations that is working to develop complete solutions to get out of the current crisis, said Zazou for the “Saudi”.

He revealed for the first time that the ministry plans on increasing Arab flights to Sharm el-Sheikh, specifically from Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The Ministry will work on agreements with the Ministry of Tourism Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait in an integrated manner to encourage Arab tourists to visit Egypt for the New Years celebrations.

Zazou confirmed that he will initiate a programme with the Jordanian Tourism Board to attract Arab tourists to Egypt in the coming days, highlighting that there are special offers and reduced prices during the Christmas and New Year period to attract Arab tourists.

The Minister recognised that there has been a significant loss to the tourism sector in Sharm el-Sheikh, but added, “we will do our best to avoid major losses during the half-year season and New Year festivals.  We also wish to attract tourists from North America, China, Korea, Sweden, and Switzerland.”

He pointed to put specialists and experts in coordination with the tourism companies in order to attract tourists from Argentina, Brazil, and Cuba, revealing a huge advertising campaign will be organized in the Arab and foreign media to attract tourists and introduce them to Egypt in multiple languages.

The Egyptian Minister of Tourism said there is coordination with all parties within the state to promote tourism, and the protection of its employees, pointing to the ongoing sessions with major hotels and tourist villages in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Zazou thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states for their cooperation with Egypt in the field of tourism, adding that the coming period will witness the signing of several Arab agreements to support Egyptian tourism.
