
Crime rate in the Kingdom last year decreased by 10.01%, according to Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, security spokesman of the Ministry of Interior.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said 96,0000 crimes were committed last year, and 70% of the perpetrators of these crimes were arrested.
Murders witnessed a 7.7 percent rise, while crimes involving money witnessed a 15.24 percent decrease.
Crimes involving stabbing rose by 117.2 percent, at the rate of 11.4 crimes for every 100,000 people.
Assaults rose by 3.92 percent at the rate of 90.4 crimes for every 100,000 people.
Premeditated murders decreased by 17.7 percent, at the rate of 1.13 crimes for every 100,000 people.
Crimes involving guns decreased by 7 percent, at the rate of 9.9 crimes per 100,000 people.
Threats and attempts to murder registered a drop of 9 percent, at the rate of 17.13 crimes per 100,000 people.
