The new appointment of veteran engineer, Nasser Bin Hassan Al-Amin as CEO of Aramco, was used to defend Saudi Arabia’s position in a meeting with the the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The UNHRC with other independent human rights figures stressed that the appointment of Nasser, although natural within Saudi Arabia, is further evidence that the accusations leveled against the Saudi government that it is sectarian & discriminatory between its citizens is false.
One of the experts participating in the meeting highlighted that the appointment had proved to them that Saudi Arabia is not sectarian as claimed by its critics. He further stated that among those who do not have a good understanding of the situation in Saudi Arabia, could fall victims to what has been promoted by mistrustful organizations against the Kingdom. He also confirmed that the appointment of a senior official of the Shiite sect to the presidency of the highly important government-owned company, which owns assets estimated at about ten thousand billion dollars was, disclaims all these lies.
Aramco expressed in an official statement that the Supreme Council of the company, has come to its decision in a meeting held in Jeddah on Wednesday. The decision was made under the chairmanship of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Nasser was occupying the position on a temporary basis since April.
According to Reuters, it is important to mention that the Saudi government does not brief the media on these appointments because it refuses sectarian classification, and does discuss its internal affairs. Although at the UNHRC meeting many participants expressed their disagreement and called for Saudi Arabia to discuss its affairs during deliberations.
In another note, Balochi activists of the Global Campaign against Terrorism, namely the American Hussein Abdullah head of the so-called Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain were embarrassed. He forwarded a question in which he said: “The US President Barack Obama, praises the wise domestic and foreign policy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, especially in the recent visit of the King Salman to America”.
The Balochi activist added jokingly: “only your organization came from among the millions of Americans represented in the person of their president, to say the opposite of the fact”.
Hussein Abdullah did not appear to react to the statement by the individual; rather he joined the audience in silence as he seemed to struggle to form a reply, continuing to rub his scalp.
