21 held for theft of SR2m in goods

Riyadh Police have arrested 21 people for a spate of burglaries in the city worth over SR2 million.
The suspects are members of six separate gangs and include Saudis, Bangladeshis, Chadians, Egyptians and Sudanese nationals. The men operated in various neighborhoods of the capital, according to a report in a local publication recently.
A special team of Riyadh police officers was involved in the investigation and arrest of the suspects in separate operations. The first operation saw the arrest of three Saudis, three Bangladeshis, and two Sudanese nationals aged between 20 and 40 for eight robberies involving the theft of money, jewelry and gold.
The police launched the second operation after Al-Manar police station in Riyadh received a report from a citizen stating criminals broke into his house and stole a suitcase containing money, gold jewelry and land deeds. This resulted in the arrest of four Saudis in their twenties.
The third operation was launched after an Egyptian national filed a report at Al-Rawdah police station saying his house was burgled, with the thieves taking gold jewelry and mobile phones. The police later arrested two Saudis, one in his thirties and the other in his fifties.
The fourth security operation saw the arrest of three Saudis in their twenties, after Al-Rawdah police station received reports from citizens and residents stating their homes were robbed of gold jewelry, electronic devices and other personal possessions.
In the fifth operation, the police in Manfouha arrested a Chadian national in his thirties for breaking into and stealing money, gold jewelry and mobile phones from the house of a Sudanese national.
The police announced that officers had recovered several items stolen from homes, with many of those arrested confessing to the crimes. The suspects now face trial.
