RIYADH: The year 2014 showed a considerable increase in terms of nationalization with 322,358 male and female Saudis landing jobs in the private sector, figures released by the Ministry of Labor (MoL) have revealed.
A total of 24,917 Saudi also returned to their old jobs, thus taking the total number of nationals — males and females — being employed to 347,275, local media reported, citing the MoL report.
The number of males employed during last year was however higher than females, that is 59 percent and 41 percent respectively. A good 79 percent of males returned to their old jobs as compared to 21 percent of females.
According to the report, the average rate of monthly employment was 28,940 males and females.
The number of Saudis employed in October 2014 was highest at 46,474 while Ramadan recorded the lowest at 17,549.
In the Nitaqat program, over a million (1,236,295) facilities entered the green and platinum zones, which is the highest for nationalization. However, over half million (612,413) facilities were between the green, yellow and red zones, the report said.
The MoL stopped providing wage protection services to 1,441 facilities (48 percent of the total number of facilities) because they did not respond to the Nitaqat program.
In the field of protection and welfare of migrant labor, the MoL stopped its computer services to 89 facilities which did not respond to addressing work related complaints while computer services were reinstated for 102 facilities.
