Saudi companies turn to LinkedIn

RIYADH — More than half of Saudi job-seekers now use Internet to find suitable jobs, according to a recent survey by job website LinkedIn. The website began offering an Arabic service earlier this year, and has over a million members in the Kingdom alone. LinkedIn’s head of talent solutions for the Middle East and North Africa, Ali Matar, said that both the private and public sectors were increasingly looking to online recruitment platforms. “The Saudi job market is very dynamic,” Matar said. “Given the percentage of people in the Kingdom who are active on social media, it is natural that people are taking their job-search online as well.” The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and companies such as the Saudi Investment Bank and Zain have now partnered with LinkedIn to try and meet their manpower needs. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, uses LinkedIn to find both active and passive job-seekers, and is also able to communicate directly with candidates using the service.
