Salam app reports over half a million downloads

DUBAI — Salam – Haj & Umrah Guide has surpassed half a million unique installs from 155 countries around the world. During the last Haj season, Salam generated over 7 million unique events.

Salam is available in English, Arabic, Indonesian, Malaysian, Urdu and French and Russian, Turkish, Hindi and Persian languages will be added in the coming few days.
Salam and all its features are free to download.

The Salam app has ranked among the top 10 apps in Apple’s app store Travel Category across 59 countries, since its launch in 2014. Salam has also been featured in Apple’s ‘Best New Apps’ and ‘New & Noteworthy’ categories. The top countries for users are Saudi Arabia (30%), Egypt (11%) and Iraq (10%).

Salam is the first of its kind, an innovative mobile application that guides Haj and Umrah pilgrims through every step starting from packing & preparation, right up to tracking their travel companions and connecting to loved ones through “Social Du’a” program.

It is an entirely new way to let loved ones know one is embarking on a pilgrimage by posting the travel information to Facebook along with a message prompting a click on the post to submit the du’a requests.

Salam introduces revolutionary technologies including an innovative way to scroll through the Haj and Umrah processes in a timeline view.

Interactive timeline content is grouped into various “sections” that include images with text, videos, the relevant dua’s (with text and audio), a Tawaf (circumambulation of Kaaba counter and Sa’i (hastening between Safa and Marwah hillocks) tool.

This creates a series of intuitive visuals on the timeline that represent the actual Haj and Umrah process, and navigates fluidly. This ensures that the pilgrim remains focused on his spirituality.

Salam also has a GPS supported map with major Haj and Islamic sites with detailed information when tapped.

Sections include hotels, places, shopping malls, restaurants, services, mosques and health care locations.
